Concept Art (Part 1) – The Alchemists of Loom

Those involved with the Guild Games worked really hard to unlock this reward. And, while I think I’m more terrified to put my sketches out there than I am the manuscript itself… there’s no point in further delaying the inevitable. Here’s to bravery!

I began working on The Alchemists of Loom back in early 2015, conceptualizing the world, conceiving the characters, and working on the magic system. It was about a full year between when I first started working on the world to when I began writing the first words. A lot of time was spent really diving into the world, tweaking it, developing it, and making sure I really knew what Loom was like.

I have a notebook I carry with me for jotting down notes when I’m world-building. So, some of the sketches came from my little book of ideas. These sketches are quite rough, on lined paper, and are some of my original conceptions for the world and characters.

Other sketches, I’ll jot down in a sketch book, or on the computer.

One final disclaimer… These pieces of artwork were done entirely for my own enjoyment and development of my characters/world. While most are wholly original, there are some where I referenced models or inspiration boards to help wrap my head around certain ideas/concepts. I’ll try to note where I can if I remember a source I used (because I am all about giving credit where credit is due).
